Mike Leider - Seal Beach Ray Bay 1963

Mike is sticking to this warm water mini wall. He was
Jim's best friend growing up. Thanks Mike.
During the early 60’s, surfing took off around the world. It was during these days that my father, Jim Driver, started getting interested in photography. During the day, Jim caught rides to the beach and photographed many of Southern California’s surfing inovators. At night, in his darkroom, he carefully developed his photos into classic images that captured the 60’s style.

Rey Bay warm water nice waves wait don't put you foot down....
I would really like to see any other photos of surfing, Seal Beach.
I just attended the 55th Lakewood High reunion. There were a lot of memories
surfing at the Power Plant (Ray Bay) jetty.
Remember so well. The early 60's at the jetty. Warm water in the winter. Never used a wet suit at Dana Hunnington Tressles, or oceanside. Quit surfing in 1965. Spent time in Nam. Didn't surf again until I was 70 in Hawaii. Oh well. Many good memories of Seal
Yeah we all surfed Ray Bay because of the warm water. The water was warmed from the power plant waste water from Seal Beach.
That’s why the Sting stays had 3 eyes !
